The Elephant Sanctuary

ZAR1595-00 per person, Minimum. 2 (5 Hours)

The Elephant Sanctuary provides a safe haven for our elephants and offers a unique platform for guest education and interaction.
All our programs are guest and elephant driven, which means the most important part of our operation is to ensure happy elephants and satisfied guests. The close encounter with elephants you experience at The Elephant Sanctuary truly is one of a kind.
We focus on education through interaction, so you will not only learn a lot about elephants, but also get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals. Elephants are highly intelligent and delightful.

8AM (morning) elephant educational program
The Elephant Sanctuary Guests brush and groom the elephants, walk trunk-in-hand with them and interact with the elephants in the forest area. You can see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of the experience.
Guides provide in-depth information and insight into African elephants, their habits and personalities. Guests will also learn about elephants’ anatomy, have the opportunity to feed them and, by spending time with them, form a relationship and bond with the elephants.
Flat walking shoes are recommended, and a camera is a must to capture this special occasion with the elephants.
Duration: 8:00 to 9:45, approx 1.45 hours. Please note: gate opens at 7:50 and the program starts at 8:00.

10am (morning) elephant educational program

This is followed by a short trunk-in-hand walk with the elephants. You walk through the elephant night sleeping stables to get an insight regarding elephant husbandry and the keeping of elephants in captivity.
